The Math Nobody Walks You Through
Jul 23, 2026
Extensions are some of the highest-ticket work a stylist can offer. Most stylists know that. Fewer have actually done the math on what it means for a full chair.
So let's do it.
One client. One install.
Extension installs run $2K and up. That's one appointment.
Now picture that client rebooking — not someday, but every 6-8 weeks, like clockwork, for move-ups and maintenance. That's not a one-time sale. That's a client who shows up on your books five or six times a year, every year, without you doing a single thing to chase her down.
Multiply that by a handful of clients on a rotating 6-8 week cycle, and you're not looking at random income. You're looking at a calendar that's already half-built before the month starts.
Here's the part that makes or breaks the math.
That whole equation only works if the install holds up.
A bead that slips, a row that shifts, a grow-out that looks messy at week four instead of week six — that client doesn't rebook. She goes somewhere else, and the math falls apart before it ever started.
The skill is what makes the math real. Not the price tag on the service. The install itself.
The real reason clients rebook isn't the install. It's the trust.
A client doesn't come back every 6-8 weeks because she likes how the install looked on day one. She comes back because she trusts what's in her hair — that it'll hold, that it won't damage her natural hair, that you're not going to let it slip and leave her dealing with it on her own between appointments.
That trust is built one honest install at a time. A method that holds up isn't just a technical win — it's what tells a client she can stop shopping around and just keep coming back to you.
That's the integrity behind the math. Clients aren't loyal to extensions. They're loyal to the person who never gave them a reason to second-guess the work.
This is what two days is actually for.
Not just teaching you to install extensions. Teaching you to install them in a way that holds — so the rebooking actually happens, so the math actually works, so a handful of extension clients can become the most predictable part of your entire chair.
If you want to do the math for your own chair, the next Polished Method intensive is August 16 and 17 in Long Beach.
